cosettespeaks asked: It does! Little Lotte and Alice in Wonderland have a lot of things in common - curiosity, admiration of (albeit different) things... How did you start liking Phantom? :)
Well, long story time:
When I was in middle school, I loved chorus, and my choral teacher, and just everything about music. My sister had seen Phantom the movie when it came out, and I got a hold of her dvd, and watched it. And then watched it again. And would watch it everyday after school, singing along with it. By around 8th grade I was able to sing literally everything in the movie, except her high note at the end of the title song. The role of Christine made me want to be a Soprano, albeit a humble one, not boasting of my skills like Carlotta. I am now and have been a Soprano since then, and section leader in my high schools chorus. Except now I can sing that High E at the end :D I really identify with Christine so much, as I’m also daddy’s girl, and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again still makes me tear up, no matter how many times I’ve heard it. I’ve read the book in its entirety, and seen ridiculous amounts of Christines in videos on Youtube. (I also learned the error of my ways in being ridiculously devoted to the movie, since it skipped a few parts of the show, and became extremely different from the greatness that is the show). I really love everything about Phantom, though I do have to say, I am not a fan of Love Never Dies. The musics alright, but no. Just no.
The only other thing I do have to put out there though, I am thoroughly convinced Andrew Lloyd Webber hates vocalists and musicians in general. I’m playing Christine in my high schools theatre program. The score makes me want to strangle that man, it is absolutely insane. But all in all, I love the show, and the story, the music, and the characters, and I can’t imagine where I would be had I not started singing along with Emmy Rossum on my tv <3
